How line items work

01

Tag your table

Add {{#line_items}} tags to the table in your Google Doc template.

02

Point it at related records

Map the table to the Attio records that hold your products or services.

03

Map each column

Link description, quantity and price columns to attributes on those records.

04

Generate

Every document gets one row per record. Use formulas to calculate totals.

Stop building tables by hand

Real tables that come straight from your data and add themselves up.

Rows from your Attio records

Line items come from records related to the one you generate from, so a quote lists exactly the products attached to that deal. Change it in Attio, and the next document follows.

Totals you don't have to check

Quantity times unit price, subtotals, tax rows, discounts and the grand total are all computed at generation time. The maths stops depending on whoever edited last.

Styled to match your template

Column widths, fonts, borders and the totals row are set in the template editor, so the table looks like part of the document. Not a pasted spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions

How do line items work in DocuPotion?

Line items work withGoogle Docs templates. Add a table and put a {{#line_items}} placeholder in the first cell and a {{/line_items}} placeholder in the last cell. When you generate your document, that table row is duplicated for each record in your linked data.

Where do line items come from in Attio?

From records related to the record you generate from. A common setup is a custom object for products or deal items linked to the deal, and each related record becomes a row.

How many rows can a table have?

As many as the record has. The table grows with the data and the document lays itself out around it.

How are currencies handled?

We recommend putting a currency symbol like '$' before the relevant value in your template. Attributes that are set to currencly values in Attio will be pulled in with the format '200,00' in the document.
