How do I generate a PDF in a Zap?
Connect the DocuPotion app to your Zapier account, then add a Create a Document action to any Zap. Point it at one of your DocuPotion templates and map fields from your trigger step to the template's merge fields. When the Zap runs, the action returns the finished PDF as either a File or a hosted URL, ready to pass to the next step.
What can trigger PDF generation in Zapier?
Anything Zapier can trigger from. New rows in Google Sheets, new Airtable records, HubSpot or Salesforce updates, Typeform submissions, scheduled runs, webhooks: any Zapier trigger can fire the DocuPotion action.
What kind of PDF documents can I generate from Zapier with DocuPotion?
Anything you can design in DocuPotion. The common document types are well-supported out of the box (invoices, contracts, certificates, reports, shipping labels, purchase orders), but you're not limited to those: the AI editor lets you describe and build completely custom document layouts for whatever your business needs. Build a template once, then populate it with data from your Zap on every run.
How do I send the generated PDF to email or cloud storage after generation?
The DocuPotion Zapier action gives you two output types to choose from: a File or a hosted URL. The File output is the easiest option for most subsequent Zap steps. Attach it directly to a Gmail or Outlook send, upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox, post it to Slack, or save it to a record in your CRM with no extra download step. The hosted URL output is useful when the next step in your Zap accepts a link rather than a file.
Can I bulk-generate PDFs for a list of records?
Yes. Use Zapier's Looping action to iterate over a list (rows from a Google Sheet, records from Airtable, line items from an order) and the DocuPotion action will run once per item. Combine that with a Schedule trigger and you have a recurring billing run or report run with no extra glue code.
Do I need a paid Zapier plan?
DocuPotion's Zapier integration works with any Zapier plan. Zapier's free plan supports two-step Zaps, which is enough to trigger DocuPotion and pass the generated PDF into one downstream action like an email or upload step. Zaps with three or more steps require a paid Zapier plan. There are no DocuPotion-specific Zapier plan requirements beyond that.
